May 25, 2023We are delighted to invite all plastic surgeons on September 12th – 14th 2024 to the EASAPS/ESAPS meeting in Göteborg/Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city. We extend a warm welcome to all of you, whether you are starting your career or are an experienced plastic surgeon working in solo or group practice, in a public or university hospital. Recent years of digital events have shown that we need to meet physically for promotion of the European spirit and diversity and to strengthen our European network and specialty. We would especially like to invite and welcome our younger colleagues to join us at the meeting. In times of shifting content and priorities of aesthetic plastic surgery training across European countries, we strongly believe that this event provides additional modern education in the field...
Dr. Carlos Parreira kindly handed the governing responsibilities of ESAPS/EASAPS over to me after approval by the general assembly in Lisbon 2022. To serve European aesthetic societies (EASAPS) as well as individual plastic surgeons (ESAPS) is a great honor but also a challenge. Together with past president Ivar van Heijningen, immediate past president Carlos Parreira and president elect Michel Rouif, we discussed and defined the future path for ESAPS/EASAPS some years ago and our thoughts are well documented in the “long term vision” document.
The next years to come will therefore follow a logical and sequential pathway. During my term 2022 -2024, I will humbly serve to promote our core values so well defined by dedicated and hardworking earlier leaders and individuals of our Society. Together with my team, we will focus on creating value for individual members and societies by promoting Aesthetic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as one united speciality. In my view, we should bridge the gap between academic reconstructive plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery for the benefit of patients. Understanding and mutual respect for both medical fields can help to improve patients’ outcomes by improved systematic and comprehensive education of young colleagues. It is therefore a pleasure to work on standards for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery training and present regular educational events in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Preparation of the scientific programme of the next biennial meeting in Göteborg, April 24 has already been undertaken.
In addition, we offer the excellent “Patient Safety Handbook” edited by Dr. Jesús Benito Ruiz and his team and are preparing a database for relevant scientific publications. Updates on Public Hearings, CEN communications, Medical Device Regulations and interactions with media will be communicated in our newsletters and presidential retreats. Internally, we have much work to do to improve the ESAPS administrative structure and define an internal code of conduct with a background of clear governance definitions and structure. We are expecting interesting discussions and regular interactions with our industry partners with a common endpoint of promoting and improving patient safety.
My primary function will be to orchestrate all committees within a democratic environment and spirit to end up with a well performing symphony without dissonances. I value the input and contributions of all aesthetic plastic surgeons in Europe. ESAPS and EASAPS have no future without your valuable confidence in my intentions and aspirations and those of our fantastic colleagues in different committees serving our specialty of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Sincerely,
Birgit Stark
President
Dear esteemed colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to extend an invitation to the upcoming biennial meeting of the European Association of Societies of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which will be held in the beautiful city of Göteborg, Sweden, next 12-14th of September 2024.
This meeting will focus on the latest advances in surgical and non surgical facial rejuvenation, body contouring surgery, and aesthetic breast surgery. We will cover the latest developments that are changing the practice in our field. Besides the surgical advances, we will cover important topics related to safety, management of patients and interaction through social media.
Voice of Europe will provide an opportunity to reflect on national issues concerning our practice and will promote the best presentations from each country. From residents to experienced plastic surgeons, all participants will help to create a unified European voice in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, rooted in solid scientific and innovative grounds.
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has come a long way since its inception, and with advancements in technology and technique, the field has continued to evolve and expand. Now, more than ever, we have to keep sound principles that provide the best treatments with safety, in a way that honors our patients and our clinical practice. This meeting will certainly be an opportunity to provide a platform for aesthetic plastic surgeons from across Europe to come together, share knowledge, discuss the latest developments in the field and stay up-to-date with the state of the art in this exciting field.
As the Chair of the Scientific Committee, I can assure you that we have put together an exceptional program that features a lineup of internationally renowned experts in these fields. Our program will include plenary lectures, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, all designed to provide participants with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills to enhance their clinical practice. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for attendees to network with their colleagues and share their experiences and ideas. We encourage you to submit your abstracts for consideration as a presentation or poster. In addition, we have arranged for social events that will enable participants to experience the unique cultural attractions of Göteborg.
As you make your travel plans, we invite you to take advantage of the many opportunities to explore the city of Göteborg and the surrounding areas before or after the congress. We are confident that this meeting will not only be a valuable learning experience but also a memorable one.
On behalf of the Scientific Committee, I look forward to welcoming you to Göteborg for what promises to be an exceptional meeting and a true example of the European scientific spirit.
